Eurasian (EAEU) RoHS vs EU RoHS

Eurasian RoHS is Technical Regulation TR EAEU 037/2016, "On the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical engineering and radio electronics products." It applies across the Eurasian Economic Union - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan - and took effect March 1, 2020.

How EAEU RoHS differs from EU RoHS

  • Substances - six: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE, at the same limits as EU RoHS (0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials, 0.01% for cadmium). The four EU RoHS 3 phthalates are not included.
  • Scope - a defined list of product groups in the regulation's annex, including household appliances, IT and telecom equipment, lighting, electric tools, cables, vending machines and some electronic instruments, rather than an open scope.
  • Conformity - a Declaration of Conformity registered in the EAEU system and the EAC mark on the product, instead of CE marking.
  • Exemptions - the regulation carries its own list of exempted applications, largely modeled on EU RoHS Annex III.
