Norway RoHS vs EU RoHS
Norway is not an EU member but belongs to the European Economic Area (EEA), so it applies EU RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU) through national law. RoHS is implemented in chapter 2a of the Norwegian Product Regulations (produktforskriften), administered by the Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljodirektoratet).
How Norway RoHS compares with EU RoHS
- Substances and limits - the same 10 substances and limits as EU RoHS 3.
- Exemptions - Norway incorporates each EU exemption decision into the Product Regulations. The 2025 changes to the lead exemptions for alloys, solders, and glass and ceramics were taken into Norwegian law to apply alongside the EU from July 1, 2026. See RoHS Annex III Lead Exemptions.
- Marking - CE marking and an EU Declaration of Conformity, the same as in the EU.
- National chemical rules - Norway has at times regulated substances in consumer products ahead of the EU, so products may also need to meet national chemical restrictions outside RoHS.
